Would it be possible for a muslim government in UK to bar women from for example advocacy in trials, as teachers, etc as did the Taliban in Afghanistan on the grounds that such activities were not compatible with Sharia Law and could a muslin majority Govt enact laws to the effect that Sharia Law was now the law of the land replacing the current system.

Saying "Muslim" government is falling into a gaping stereotypical hole. It's a bit like saying would a "Christian" government ban abortion. There are huge variations within Islam as in Christianity.

Oh and an elected government in a country without a written Constitution can do pretty much what it likes as long as it carries a majority.

Muslim government may just mean a generic Muslim govt, it doesn't have to mean shariah. It could be just like Turkey, secular. And baring in mind, though there are countries with shariah they vary on different grounds on jurisprudence.

For the UK to have Shariah laws discriminating against women, this is very unlikely unless they are of the Wahabist and Taliban school of thoughts, which are small or even non existent with the Muslim demographic in the UK.

That's abosolutely ridiculous! I have Muslim friends and they know I want to be a teacher... They have never said I shouldn't have the right to do that. What Planet are you from? Why are you asking something like that? Do you believe women should be at home cooking the dinner and looking after babies while the men bring in the money? God... you really should have been born 100 years ago if you think that!

Considering the laws from English History which would now be considered a violation of human rights, I don't think you should be worried about a Muslim Government.

We are never going to have a Muslim Government in the UK - so why even consider this?!

We fought for our independence and autonomy through two world wars against Hitler - do you really think we'd allow a Muslim Government!

It all depends on whether they are moderates or fundamentalists. If it is the former, all will be ok, but if it's the latter, anything can happen. Worst if they are extremes, as they will tend to interpret what the religion says quite differently. Sort of, out-of-the-box surprises will be sprang ever so oftenly. The moderates will allow the laws of the country to prevail but Syariah Laws will operate alongside it, mainly subjecting only the muslims to it.

Muslim law in middle eastern countries prevents women from getting an education and from touching males, so i think its perfectly plausible that they would stop women working in the UK, if we were to have a muslim govt.
