my friend and I were dared to swim out to the middle of the lake and then swap bikini bottoms. so for about 10 seconds we were both nude, but a long way from our friends (or anyone else) so no one could see our private parts. then we swam back to shore. both biknis were the same size and similar style, so it was not as if one of us ended up in something heaps smaller than what we started with. Sexy? or just a laugh?

Probably a dare thought up by one of the guys, so for them the idea of the two of you naked together (even though beyond easy sight) was probably a sexy image for them. remember that most guys have very active fantasy lives, much of it visual, and so they get excited by things like that.
From our standpoint, as girls, it's pretty harmless, but it was probably exciting for them.
Guys are predictable...but that's what's so cute about them!

Honey - that is unclean. You should never wear someone else's bathing suit bottoms (or top, for that matter).
Regardless of how good a friend you may think she is, I don't think that you should trust that she doesn't have "personal issues".
I can't imagine someone saying "Sorry, guys, I would love to do this, but I currently have a yeast infection (HPV, crabs, whatever) so I don't think it would be a good idea."
Next time someone dares you to do something like that, just tell them that you don't think it is inappropriate and say no. The little decisions you make each day make up the sum of your personality over time, and no one should "dare" you into doing something that compromises your self-preservation.
I guess my simple answer to your question is "EEEEEEWWWWWW"
