Well in my culture (Indian), it has been done by women for thousands of years to accessorise themselves. Men do not pierce their noses.

In many Southeast Asian tribal cultures, nose piercings are a mark or manhood because claws or teeth of wild animals (which they have killed are inserted into the piercings.

I wonder how the Western youths picked up on nose piercing though. They do it to look cool I suppose. I suppose it is the influence of the media and probably the music industry.

see dear though piercing our body parts would surely pain there is a reason behind it is like it is a type of accupressure see when the pressure falls on certain nervous our body acts very actively this is the reason behind piercing of any part of the body in old period but it has lost its value & only a fashion now

I do not have a piercing, so I might answer why not: to me,it is painful procedure, and although after the removal the tissue heals, somehow I consider it as an self aggressive act.

in olden indian times gals used to get thier nose pierced right before marriage as it used to arise them sexually...this is no joke it stimulates those nurves which makes you sexually active and not only nose piercing wearing of toe ring also stimulates that sexual feeling in girls wat you call the g-points.....these are all ancient indian knwoledge now unknown by the ppl.....evth in inidan history was done because of a scientific reason....and the traditions like thse carry meaning.....
