there are loads of spiderman costumes around going cheap, and comics are books... easiest would be the white witch from Narnia for your girl, quite up to date and popular with children and very pretty. Not sure about your boy though, I think there will probably be a lot of harry potters with upcoming book release, depends if he wants to blend with others or be something different. batman, in comics and has loads of books.

I was going to say wonderwoman and the thing until I read 'from a book' and I'm sure the teachers didn't mean comics.
I agree with this guy who says Robin Hood and Maid Maryanne, but what about the white rabbit and the queen of hearts?
