There are complications with any medical procedure, but if you go to a licensed clinic, you should be very safe. There will be some mild cramping and bleeding after, mine was a little worse than period cramps. It is a scary thing to go through, but if you are not ready to become a parent, then it is the right thing to do. Make sure you take the father with you or a friend.

I don't know how old you are, but please don't get an abortion. It can scar you enough to not be able to have any more children. Plus, I have heard that some women go for the abortion, and it is not a success, they still go thru the pregnancy. Also, I haven't heard much on this topic, but I have heard that there is a link between abortion and breast cancer. Plus, at 12 weeks, the baby's heart is already beating. And, the baby can tell and tries not to get aborted. A movie, made several years ago shows a baby during an abortion procedure, trying to get away from the instruments. The movie is called "The Silent Scream". And, yes, it does hurt to get an abortion. They scrape the uterus wall. And yes, it will hurt emotionally after, knowing what you have done.

Abortion can have medical complications, but since it has become legal the procedures are mostly safe. It is the emotional harm that it causes. Please make sure you have all the information you need before making this very hard decision. The physical pain you will forget, the emotional pain will carry on with you.

it doesn't hurt so much physically as emaotionally,as you are twelve weeks you probably would have to go in for a d and c which is where there knock you out and open up your cervix and suck the feotus out.At 12 weeks it is fully formed.I would think long and hard before you do this as i had termination at 18 and still think about it and regret it 20 years later.my parents kicked me out and my boyfriend pressured me into it.If it is truly what YOU want then fair enough, but once it is done it cant ever be undone, talk it through with someone.

First of all, you need to understand you will get a number of nasty and very ignorant answers from people who want to tell you what to do or not to do. Do not listen to these vile people who really do not care about you but only about their agenda.
Abortion done in a safe setting with a trained professional is ten times safer than carrying a pregnancy to term despite the lies some have posted here and elsewhere. There is no such thing as "post abortion syndrome" and it does not increase your risk of breast cancer. Anyone who is telling you these common lies should be ignored.
It's perfectly normal to be frightened, and a good clinic will understand this and support you to make the experience as comfortable as possible and to help you cope with your fears and stress. There are many options to help you with the discomfort, which is usually no worse than a "bad period" if even that. If you have unusual discomfort during the procedure, don't be afraid to say so and the staff will help you with that.
Before you have the procedure all of this should be discussed with you in detail and any of your questions should be fully answered. Don't be afraid to be fully honest about your fears and concerns. All complications should be discussed with you, as well as alternatives like adoption and agencies that could help you raise a child if you chose to do so. (This is why people like me are called "prochoice" because we want you to know the whole truth and decide WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU not for anyone else.)
You will almost surely be given an ultrasound if you think you are 12 weeks, and you really need to go in ASAP because it does get more complicated and more expensive the further out you get. You may or may not require a two day procedure depending on what actual length of gestation you really are, since women's estimates can be off by several weeks. Past 12 weeks, the cervix needs to be dilated in many women, and a kind of seaweed, laminaria, is placed in it a day in advance where it will absorb liquid and gently dilate the cervix. Before that time, less dilation is needed for smaller instruments.
If you are rH negative, you will also need to get a Rhogam shot unless the man involved is also rH negative. This is important to protect future pregnancies from harmful antibodies and would ne needed for a natural miscarriage as well.
You need to go to a doctor or clinic really as soon as humanly possible if you are certain you want to abort. Make certain it really is a clinic providing all services and not one of the fake "crisis pregnancy clinics" that will try to bully you into continuing an unwanted pregnancy. Some of them will offer you cash to try to bribe you into their way,.and I have no problem with women taking that money from those liars and then using it to help pay for an abortion. It's only fair since they make a practice of lying to and tricking women, however they justify it.
If you are at all unsure of what you want to do, or have questions about options, there is a perfectly wonderful workbook online and free to help you work through your feeling and choices. You can find this at: http://www.pregnancyoptions.info/pregnant.htm
And the truth about most women who have decided for themselves that abortion us their best option can be found in the personal stories on http://www.imnotsorry.net
Do what's right for you and don't listen to anyone who does not make that their first priority. You are the one who matters, not some possible potential baby and that is all it is. Yes, there is a heart beat, but a lizard has a heartbeat so this is just a scare tactic. You may be shown little dolls that look like tiny babies that are the size of a 12 week fetus, but a real one is only 2-3 inches long and looks only vaguely human. If someone trots that stuff out, you are in a fake clinic. You need to use someone reliable like Planned Parenthood, if there is one offering abortion in your area, or ask pointblank if the clinic offers abortion. If they lie, file a complaint about them.
And if at all possible, have a support person go with you for the procedure, preferaby someone who can be with you awhile at home. While minor, this is an invasive procedure and you may be somewhat shakey afterwards.
Be strong and do what's best for you. Feel free to email me through my profile if I can help, and God bless you. (No, God will not hate you for caring for yourself and your future!)

Abortion can seriously injure you, both physically and emotionally. Women have died from so-called "safe and legal" abortions. When you are pregnant, your cervix (the opening to your womb) is tightly closed to protect your baby. The abortionist must force it open, often causing tearing and permanent damage. He then inserts either a sharp-tipped suction tube or a curette (a loop-shaped steel knife) into your womb. The suction is 30 times more powerful than a vacuum and rips your baby apart. If a curette is used, he cuts the baby apart and scrapes it out. The curette is also used after a suction abortion to scrape the remaining pieces of the placenta and baby out. At 12 weeks, your baby may be too large to suction or scrape out, and the abortionist may have to use a pliers-like instrument to grasp pieces of your baby (usually beginning with the arms and legs) and tear them off one at a time, while your baby is still conscious. Last, he grabs your baby's head, crushes it, and pulls it out. Abortion is a "blind procedure." The abortionist cannot see what he is doing after the sharp instruments are inserted into your womb. He may puncture or tear your womb, bowel, or bladder.

Yes, it hurts. Here are stories from women who have aborted:

It also hurts your baby. An ultrasound of an abortion at 11-12 weeks shows the baby frantically trying to escape the suction instrument, as her heartrate doubles and her mouth opens wide. You can view the video here:
http://www.silentscream.org/video1.htm (see part three)
At twelve weeks, your baby is fully formed. All her organs are functioning. She has tiny fingers and toes and can suck her thumb, get the hiccups, smile, frown, grasp an object placed in her palm, kick, stretch, and yawn. You can learn more about your baby's development and see photos and an ultrasound of what she looks like now here:

PLEASE NOTE: People who are in the business of SELLING abortion are NOT going to provide you with unbiased information. If you wanted to know the dangers of a particular type of car, would you expect the car salesman to tell you the unbiased truth? NONE of the organizations I've listed above have ANY financial stake in your decision. Please be aware that there are women on Yahoo Answers who are dealing with unresolved guilt regarding their own abortions. If they talk other people into killing their babies, too, it helps them temporarily feel better about what they did. You need the facts, not lies from people who want to cover up the truth about abortion. The existence of post-abortion syndrome is well-documented by hundreds of studies. 94% of women regret their abortions, according to a study done by the Elliott Institute. The abortion/breast cancer link is also very well-documented by at least 28 studies worldwide. To see some of the research, visit the Elliott Institute's site at http://www.afterabortion.org
and also visit http://abortionbreastcancer.com/
If you want to find out who really cares about you, go to a crisis pregnancy center, where you will find free financial and medical assistance, free maternity and baby supplies, emotional support, and any help you need throughout your pregnancy and beyond. Try getting free help at any abortion clinic, and you'll see how much they care--you'll get nothing. They only want your money. In my area last year, a young girl changed her mind about her abortion on the day her baby was scheduled to die, and the abortion clinic refused to give her back her $100 deposit. Pro-lifers outside the clinic pulled out their wallets and checkbooks and offered to replace the money, showing who really did care about the girl and her baby.
Be strong and protect yourself and your baby. It's not too late.

Yes, it hurts like hell. They stick a huge pair of scissors up your.. well, your thing. & yeah I am trying to scare the living hell out of you because I don't want you to kill your child. Yes, if you get an abortion, not only will it really, really, like hell, hurt but it will take a person's life. Now, I think we both know which would be the right thing to do, now don't we?
