I used to think the same, but shop work isn't all its cracked up to be! The thing with shop work is that you can do it alongside studying for just 7 hours a week if need be, then it is always there as a background career if something else doesn't work out. (That's what I'm doing now while studying at Uni.) You can get experience of it without dropping a career path and see if it is something you want to pursue.

Money isn't great in retail, and with the Internet taking over a lot of the shopping market it isn't a stable career at the moment. But you do need to find something that you would be happy doing, maybe visit careers people at your college and just talk things over with them. Nursing is something that will really test you and if you're not happy doing it then it will show.

I hope you find what you're looking for, good luck with everything. There is nothing worse than dreading going to work every morning, just make sure you're happy. :-)

If you don't like a particular field you should not go into it, moreso nursing where you will have to interact with people. Life will be both miserable for you and them I would suggest that you start shopwork now and save to the day when you can buy your own shop. Life should be fulfilled.

Why don't you swap courses and do a management course instead? Thus will give you more paths to follow once completed.
