We've just experienced an extreme heat wave. My beautiful lawn has several brown spots due to extreme sunlight and heat. What do you recommend?

Yes, we have had some heat this past week! However we doubt the heat and sunlight have had much to do with the brown spots you are experiencing. Chances are you have and insect problem. In order to determine if that is in fact the problem I suggest you lift the turf in a few of the browned areas, looking for grubs or feeding sod worm larva. If you have ever noticed birds flocking to your lawn this will also indicate an insect problem. Small whitish moths flying up in the evening as you walk or mow would also indicate a sod web worm infestation. KILL-A-BUG II or KILL-A-GRUB applications would control insect pests. Another possibility could be fungus issues, heat and humidity are always ideal conditions for bringing about those problems. We might be better able to determine this problem with a picture or two of your infected areas. F-STOP lawn fungicide is a recommended control for most fungus problems. We hope this information helps you in bringing your lawn back to its previously enjoyed beauty.

Never water when it's 80 degrees or higher. Water very early in the morning( or late at night) & water longer to get the roots to grow deeper. Pull up a few blades of grass to see if roots are being eaten by bugs, but I doubt this is your prob. Sometimes when it gets seriously hot there is nothing you can do but wait for cooler weather, just keep doing your best. I had this prob last summer & by the first week of Sept. it was back to normal.

Dont spray water on it, it will burn the grass becaise of a magnifying effect of the drops of water on the grass. The only thing you can do is wait for rain.

if u r watering it properly then brown spots cant occur.may be ur cutting it a bit late .ve cuts regularly sprinkle plant food n if desperately needed u can fix a green sheet cover on ur lawn but i wont suggest it coz mine is surviving without it n my house is west open.
