solid x is solube in both hot and cold water
solid y is soluble in hot water but insoluble in cold water
solid z is insoluble in both hot and cold water

how could you seperate solid y from a mixture of solids x, y and z.

Place the mixture into hot water. This will dissolve x and y. Run this through a filter to remove z. Place the solution into a refrigerator to make it cold. This will cause solid y to come out of solution. At this point you can filter it and separate it from x.

dissolve in hot water and filter to remove z.then use distillation or fractional distillisation.
