I would start with who gifted it to you. What type of relationship do you have with the person? If there is no relationship with the person (and this was just repayment for buying them lunch for example), then it's most likely a fake..

i worked in an exclusive dept store in the handbag section for a few years during college and i will tell you this. it is VERY hard to tell a good fake from the original. first did you get a lv card with it? what is the box like? is there a leather tag on the inside with number? you can usually check with lv who this no is registered to. who gave you the purse? would they give you something so expensive? Fianlly, check the colour of the lining and the quality of the stitching against the real one. you might be able to do this on the lv site. hope this helps!!!

Although there are some good fakes out there the inside of the wallet should tell you...If the inside feels like the cloth is cheap so is the wallet..

Go to Louis Vitton shops and ask. I bought a fake one once, I couldn't tell the difference, until I brought it to the shop. Check the lining of the bag. If it is hemmed its probably real.

i will say bring to a authenic LV shop and ask the person to verify for you. (: in some countries like shenzhen and korea, they can produce really flawless grade A+ LV wallets. nonetheless, they are still fake.

If the stiching or edges cuts off any "LV" logo part of the material, it is guarenteed to be fake! :]
