Human Rights do gooders who claim it is wrong for you to discipline your children. If your kids don't respect you, how on earth can you possibly expect them to respect strangers!

There are a million different answers to this question, it can't be generalised. There are too many people ready to blame the parents. For every 1 parent that allows their kids to run wild & cause chaos or just doesn't care enough about what they're doing or where they are, there's another 2 that do care & have tried everything in their power to stop their kids behaving in such a way. Maybe if the government put some money into resources for these kids, services that are put into use when they first start to go off the rails. There are too many parents who have brought their kids up to know the difference between right & wrong, only to find they do the opposite. When they ask for help it's not forthcoming. Social services are overworked & understaffed, therefore, unless it's a child protection matter, there's very little they can do. If the government put money into services to help these kids at this stage, they find they'd spend a lot less locking them up later. unfortunately you can't be with them 24 hours a day, at the end of the day when they walk through the door you can only hope they've listened and taken in what you have taught them.

We are all to blame! We allow our children to watch tv and movies and video games that are totally unsuitable, our children are living in a world of make believe and we use these things as babysitters when we should be giving our children our attention and love. The way of life has changed for the better, but we have lost the way to connect with our children, stories that were once passed from generation to generation have all but vanished. That and the fact that corporal punishment is banned in schools and at home means there is no discilpline, behaviour is learned, if we don't teach our kids properly how will they ever learn?

Nobody is to blame here. Social norms are not consistent throughout history. They keep changing, slowly, to meet the needs of younger generations. It's always the young ones who take the initiative in changing the world better for them, and the old ones don't like that. This is the process repeated over and over again during the course of human evolution. Your children will blame your grandchildren and it goes on and on and on. Sure, they may not live up to your expectations, but you can't stop them from living up to theirs. Don't blame them, just let them be.

Being a poor, disaffected youth born into a country where:

a) You are bombarded with images of the rich, and come to associate money with success rather than associating reputation/skills with success.

b) You aren't educated properly thanks to our failing education system and rocketing class sizes.

c) No-one wants to help you because you're a 'hoody' or a 'chav' - so you learn to like being feared, although it still eats you up inside.

d) You live in an area with hundreds of kids in the same situation, and you're angry as hell.

We're all to blame.

The government is to blame. Not enough is being done to instill discipline at schools and the law is too soft in the UK

They are spoilt deadbeats with 0% idea of how real life works. It is their parents fault and when it is time for the poor cuties to get on their own two feet, both them and their parents will take the loss!
