The blood will be sent, most likely, to the hospital lab. The doctor's office will usually get the results in about a week. In the meantime, continue taking your prenatal vitamin and try to add foods with iron to your diet. Peanut butter, lean red meats, tuna, beans, collard greens, spinach, and turnip greens, tofu, broccoli, asparagus, watercress, brussel sprouts, chicken and turkey, nuts, egg yolks, and dried fruits, such as raisins, prunes, dates and apricots. Vitamin C helps your body absorb more the iron, so if you can drink a glass of OJ with these foods. Calcium interferes with iron absorption so don't drink milk with your meals. Hope that helps. Best wishes and take care.

I had my blood test done at the hospital at 12pm. The following morning i had a phone call from my GP saying she had the results through the computer system and i was anaemic and there was a prescription waiting for me. The paper results took about a week to come through.

Haemoglobin test for anaemia is a very quick test performed by Labs throughhout the UK and worldwide. You can turn a test round in a matter of hours if neccersary, so if you had blood taken in the morning a result is possible by the afternoon as it takes simply minutes to perform. However as a general rule of thumb in non urgent cases you wll get results in 3-5 days or possibly even longer if the result is "normal".

The blood test report will make it clear. The anaemic patients must be identified by the blood test. As regards sending the blood sample away , it depends upond the facilities avialble in the laboratory.
