Why is football(soccer) the best sport in the world?

All you need is a ball and a goal. Not as much the best, in my opinion, as the cheapest. Anyone can play it and easy to play almost anywhere. That gets more people playing and more people intrested because they can connect. Also part of why it isn't big in the U.S. As the country with the money other sports are easily affordable. Look in most cities and you will find a basketball hoop. So all you need is a ball. Most cities used to have baseball diamonds so all you needed was a bat and ball. As to American Football(our real passion in America) we just take a ball and a field and play anywhere. We don't care that it isn't regulation length or anything like that. Heck more skill to throwing and catching then just kicking(sorry but annoyed by soccer fans who go into the American Football category and claim there is sooo much more skill to their sport).

It's not the best - there is no "best" sport, any more than there is a "best" flavour of ice-cream we would all agree on - but it's just about the most inclusive and therefore the most popular.

The equipment you need for a basic game is very simple and cheap (a ball - and some jumpers for goalposts of course!). The rules are simple enough that you don't need a dedicated referee for a playground game. It doesn't have intricately choreographed moves like American Football. Being a team sport, less able kids are still able to play a part in a success.

As a result, almost every boy in primary school in most of the world plays a lot of football. And because they've played it, they all appreciate some of its complexities, and have an opinion about it.

Another advantage is that a match only lasts 90 minutes - a time even busy people can normally set aside. This gives it an edge over the likes of cricket or golf where it can take 4-5 days to find a winner.

And finally, there's the adrenaline rush as you yell "Goooooaaaaaaalllll!", and the feeling of being part of some tribal ritual as you support "your" team. It's addictive.

its not the best that's just everyones opinion i think the best sport is American football its so much fun. Everyone says it's the best sport because its probably the most publicised sport in the world and it gains the most money, it also gets a lot of kids involved in sports and keeping active which is why those kids aren't obese
