Here's what I think: They spend the first part of the commercial showing people doing crazy or sporty activities and drinking Mountain Dew. This gets your brain making a connection between the drink and activity. They've kinda turned the drink into a sport or something. So if you think of "the dew" as a sport or something, it kinda makes sense. They liked that do and dew are homophones (in America) and used that to market the product as more than just a drink.

It means to drink mountain dew. It is a way for the company to influence you to buy the soft drink. If you drink mountain dew you will be able to do extreme sports and live on the edge.

Mountain Dew.. it's just a quirky advertising slogan.. as if mountain dew wasn't just a beverage, but an experience..
it's just clever marketing.

The sentence "Do the dew" makes no sense.
In the USA, 'do' and 'dew' are pronounced the same. But here in Australia, 'dew' is pronounced 'dyoo' (like 'few').

The only thing that makes sense is that "do" and "dew" are pronounced exactly the same way.
