I can't sleep either. That's why I'm on the internet at almost 4 am....when I wake up in the night and can't sleep, I get up and do something...anything ...until I can sleep again. I do not use sleeping pills.

You need to get to the bottom of your sleeping problems. It could be other areas of your life which is stoping you from sleeping. Using the room in which you sleep for other things ( work , tv etc ), irregular sleeping hours, alcohol, smoking, bad diet, exercising or working too near to bedtime, old or uncomtable bed, expecting to have problems sleeping and many other reasons could stop you from sleeping. Try and de-stress before you go to bed - deep breathing etc. Speak to your doctor about it.

avoid foods rich in proteins, fruit juices ,coffee, consume liquids with moderation, ,have something sweet and light like a tsp of honey half a glass of cold milk sleep in total darkness or wear a cap pulled down to cover your eyes or wear a small towel aroun your head do not ever think of your next day agenda ,leave that for the next morning ....you owe to yourself a good and Delicious night of good quality sleep ! the rest is garbage! good luck ENJOY p.s have some sex ,or dream abut it .... if religious; thank the lord and hope for blessings and have a peaceful night.....

STOP the sleeping pills. Try herbs like valarian (which you can obtain from health food shops)
Also try a hto shower before you go to bed and try meditating. You are probably stressed or have anxiety or insomnia. Good luck.

i suggest quitting the sleeping pills on a thursday and absolutely forcing yourself to stay awake the whole weekend with boring activities and realizing that sleep is for the weak! come monday you should be seeing all sorts of cool hallucinations. (i hope you are not an ATC (Air Traffic Controller))

I have one trick that works in about 7 out of ten times...
I go to bed and start breathing deeply and more slowly
.( I laughingly think of this as forcing myself to sleep:))
Not to give myself extra oxigen but to relax deeper. and most of the time I'm a goner within ten minutes...
