Trees are smart. They can either keep their roots in the ground, and stay strong and anchored to the earth and feed off it's nutrients. Or........
It can lift up it's roots for all the world to see, fall over and die.

Apparently the span of a trees roots if roughly the same span as it's branches which is why a tree rarely gives if you crash into one thats of a fair size.
