Ok so I am not a poor Filipino, I am actually Australian but I have a close connection to the Philippines. I think that it would be a terrible idea if the Philippines were to become US territory. Actually the Philippines was doing quite well economically before the 97 Asian Financial Crisis. So they can cope on their own, all you need is a decent government that truly cares about improving your country, and that is happening slowly. Also filipinos need to stay in the Philippines and contribute to the country, everyone is SO eager to get out to move to the US, Australia, Europe, everywhere but actually staying in the Philippines, all that valuable knowledge and skills are fleeing the country like sinking ship. If all that people power came together to help the country and not abandon it, you would have great teachers, medical staff, engineers etc. But everyone wants to leave.
The Philippine have a great amount of natural resources that are not being utilised efficiently, this could eventually become a vast source of wealth and employment but first and foremost you need a uncorrupt government. The USA is not that government they are only gonna be looking out for their own interests not those of the Philippines.

That is the thing of the past, Philippines to be a US territory. The thing is ,we Filipinos can govern our country in such a way that we can make our own Constitution. And, work is everywhere if you are flexible enough to find it. Moreover, not all Filipinos have a height problem, and it's not only in height, the main subject is ..on how to make the Philippines a developed one through the effort and management of the Filipino people. If, we think that we needed your help, then, maybe, we can you for an aid. But, not to control us.

Whatever, "George"
Repeated misuse of the english language. You must relearn your proper usage of the english language, after all, most of your countrypeople tell that to immigrants.
Life will be more prosperous under foreign rule? You need to brush up on Philippine history. After World War II, the Americans occupied the Philippines. True, the Filipinos learned a new language, and had the education system patterned after that of US curriculum, but while the Filipinos gained knowledge, the Americans shipped to USA hardwood without tariffs; gained lands, gold, paintings, artifacts from the Philippines, most of it illegally.
When the US base was in Olongapo, Philippines, toxic wastes from USA were brought to Olongapo and dumped there.
So if you think that American rule will improve the condition of the Philippines, I suggest that you need to do more history studies.

Off the subject but what luosechi stated has always stuck out to me as well. Why the insistence of placing a bunch of the same stores next to each other? The only benefit is you can get a better discount by playing them off each other but overall it is bad for the proprieter.
No, PI should not be US territory although it would be nice to get rid of the height requirement for jobs.

That's the last that the Philippines needs. no more of the little brown brothers stuff....
But living as a foreigner in the country, I have noticed one thing. PLEASE use a bit of imagination!!! If one store makes good profit, 50 stores side by side all selling the same thing keep everybody poor. Let me give you several examples...
Sabon and paputok stores in Bulacan (even a bunch of rice mills), Flower stores in Silang and Tageytay also with fruit stands. And how about maiz stands in Santa Rosa? Fabric district in Manila? Enough.... Good night everybody.
