I love all the double treadles, but which is the best? I am looking for answers from beginners to seasoned pros (please specify which category you fall in). Money aside, which is the best and why? Please give reasons as to why. Thank you all!
I am going through Babe's Fiber Garden for this because they are more affordable.

Well, I've been spinning for about 10 years now, so that probably makes me seasoned. In my time I've owned a single treadle Ashford Traditional, which I did not like, used a Louet ST, which I also did not like (I seem to have difficulty with the heel/toe action on them), and currently own two Lendrum wheels and two from the Merlin Tree, a Canadian Production wheel and a Hitchhiker. The Lendrums are both DT and the Merlin Trees both ST. So, your question is rather like which is a better car, a Ford or a Chevy, it depends on what you like. Personally, having knee problems, I prefer the double treadle wheels, although I do love both my STs as well. However, most of my spinning is done on my Lendrums. They are versatile (I have complete wheels, with regular and fast flyers and a plying head, I will eventually obtain the very fast flyer and the quill head, but I don't need them, to be honest, because I can spin plenty fine on the regular head and if I want to spin from the point I also have a charkha). I strongly recommend that if you have any resonable opportunity to go to a shop that sells more than one brand of wheels within a day's drive, it is worth going and sitting down with as many wheels as possible and trying them out. Another option is an area sheep and wool festival where there are many vendors, all of whom will let you sit and try out wheels. Some wheels are more comfortable for some people to spin on than others. I've spun on all kinds of wheels, Robins, Majacraft, Schact, Ashford, antique, and some whose price we won't even discuss . Each has a different feel and comfort level. Personally, I prefer my Lendrums, yes, they are $500 or so for a complete wheel, but unless you become a wheel junkie (many of us are) it is a wheel that will do pretty much anything you want it to and holds up well even when it has a lot of mileage on it. Mine has several thousand miles of travel on it now, and it loves to go camping. Oh, why do I have two Lendrums? Hubby spins, too, and he prefers the Lendrum. As for the Babe, from those I know who have them, they do like them, they are a great beginner's wheel for the price. Wheels, btw, do not lose their value in resale.

What do I want for my next wheel? Well, Lendrum has a gorgeous Saxony style wheel and there's an Irish castle wheel I've been lusting after for a while, both more money than I have to dispose of at the moment .
