When my husband buys a new t-shirt, after a few weeks/months it develops small holes always in the same place, usually about at the top of his waistband. It doesnt matter if the t-shirt is tucked in our out or worn with zips or shorts they still get these cluster of small holes. A mystery, does anyone else get them and what could be the cause?

He doesn't smoke, he is 5ft 10ish and doesnt wear the t-shirts to work. He usually wears them with shorts (we live in a hot country) that dont have a zip. If it was moths then they would eat the other parts of the t-shirt and mine too. Still am none thre wiser!

Could be maybe his belt causes this but another guess could be his seatbelt (I had that before) in his car or other external devices (laptop bag?), maybe something at work that touches the fabric at that specific spot. Get him to "investigate". I suppose its not a hot chick at work with long nails, those would tear bigger holes so thats at least psoitive:-)

This is usually caused by too much bleach in the wash water. This will happen especially in areas that have wear, the bleach weakens the material and holes develop fast because the fibers in the fabric have broken down from the bleach.

I doubt it's moths. In my opinion, it's just the quality of the material. Try a different brand. Not every shirt is perfect. :)

What does he do? Is he constantly leaning up against a wooden table or surface that hits him right above the waist? How tall is he? Are the T-shirts too tight (does he pinch them to pull them away from his body to either loosen them or fan himself?)

ALL of my shirts have done this, in the stomach area. I have no clue why, however there have been two t-shirts that have not done this to me, they were made by Nike, maybe that will work for him too. Good luck.
