The monitor unit is called the desktop ..the one in which you see the pictures and read the messages on the screen.
PC stands for Personal Computer which consists of a Power Unit, CPU and the Monitor unit with a Key Board and Speakers...
It also consists of a Mouse for clicking as and when required.
These are coming under Hard Wares of the Computer.

PC == Personal computer..

desktop == big brick PC that sits on a desk

laptop == PC you can take w/ you..

Desktop is a general term for a computer consiting of a larger monitor and a computer tower. They can be anything from Macs to PCs to off-brand systems.

PC is a brand name and it stands for Personal Computer.

Basically, PC's are the computers that use Windows/Linux/Unix etc.
