Actually, you probably wouldn't find the nail at all. It would be covered completely by bark - remember trees grow wider as well as taller by adding new rings of bark every year.

But if you could find it, it's still be at 1.5m. Trees don't push their trunk upwards when they grow, they grow by adding more and more branches at the top.
