I've been to malaysia.....but I can't understand what you are asking here....people always settle near rivers....constant fresh water..they build up and eventually you have a city...if you mean something in detail you'll have to define your question more

I've been to Malaysia myself too - I think people settle by rivers all over the world for the same reasons - people still use rivers for commerce/shipping, and travel, especially in Asia and Africa. It's also a source for drinking water, food, irrigation, etc.

The capital of Malaysia "Kuala Lumpur" means "place where two rivers converge" - the center of the city is where two significant rivers join together
