for techno(ish) music, 161 on high street, prahran, altitude in bullens lane on a saturday, lounge upstairs on swanston street and 3rd class (formerly known as HonkyTonks) are all good.
I havent been to bubble in years so cant confirm what its like now but it used to play harder techno, if thats what you like then you might also enjoy bass station at the palace in st kilda.
For Hip Hop try Downtown Fridayz at Publicity on bourke street (on a friday ofcourse:)
For pre-dancing drinks bimbos on brunswick street as has been mentioned is pretty cool, as is revolver (also already mentioned), same goes for Lucky Coq on chapel and Lounge Downstairs on swanston.
Here's hoping you have a blast :)

i can call the international places yet i'm nevertheless workin on the acutal call of the circuits yet i comprehend the layouts, i kinda learn them and get to comprehend the speeds of each and every corner, background etc i grow to be in Melbourne final 12 months and that i walked around the place the music is and that i individually enjoyed it. Making Melbourne the 1st around and making any such huge deal approximately it i think of supplies greater exposure to Melbourne. If it grow to be interior the middle of the season then mayb much less human beings might watch and Melbourne ought to bypass greater disregarded.

Most clubs are really good in Melbourne, I would just take a walk around and see what you find, Flinders lane has some good places. Also check out laneway clubs and just ask people that look like they are going clubbing.
The bigger clubs tend to be a lot more commerical, so it depends on what you like.
If depends on the DJ that is on as well to how good the night is going to be.
Have fun. Goodluck

Disagree about Crown, which is why i didnt suggest it earlier. their clubs have gone down hill.
Try Revolver in Chapel st,or for techno as previously suggested, Area 61 in St Kilda which is open til 7-8am. the metro might be a good choice though. Q bar on toorak road or even Lotus bar are great too.

Best night clubs are at Crown Casino, great range. Metro in Bourke Street also may be down your alley.
