I think you can. Anything that halts your life, keeps you from growing as a person, causes you to be fearful of making that next step or do anything wrongfully against someone is a demon.

Why would you want to share your soul with a halfwit? Most of these "demons" are just spirits who are languishing and refusing to move on.
