I heard this song, that's mostly instrumental, and it was billed to Tool, but have no idea if that's correct or not. I have looked online to find what album it might be on, but I can't find it.

Tim Alexander & Mike Bordin did the song. I believe Alexander was a drummer for A Perfect Circle, so it's possible Maynard was tied to the song somehow.

Maynard sings for both "Tool" and "A Perfect Circle" and a lot of people classify "A Perfect Circle" as being "Tool", so try looking for "A Perfect Circle"

was the song utterly horrible and devoid of any melodic structure? Cuz if so then its highly likely it was Tool.
