I've been wanting to get my nose pierced since I was about 16 (almost 19 now), but i'm scared of it getting infected and looking horrible while it's still healing...Can anyone give me an approximate percent chance that it would get infected?
Also, any tips on proper cleaning and how to make the healing process faster would be appreciated....

Also, if, after it heals, I take it out for a while, will there be a noticable hole in my nose? How long does it take to close up if I decide I don't want it anymore or I cant have it for work?

I used ot be a piercer and it CAN get infected easily. As long as you wash AROUND the jewelry and dont put any makeup/lotion on the area you should be ok. The healing does take some time and there is swelling, but generally its on the inside of the nose where no one should be looking anyway! and i would ask for a nose bone instead of the screw, its easier to clean and there is less metal involved! good luck and happy peircing!

I have my nose pierced now. I first got it pierced when i was 16 and it got infected. Then I got it pierced again when I turned 18. I realised when you get your nose pierced NEVER touch it, only touch it when your cleaning it. And dont scrap off the crusties if you have any on it just use a warm cloth and it will come off. The best time to clean it is in the shower because the warm water is flowing on your piercing. The first time i got my nose pierced i had a c-shaped stud in and i was constantly touching it, making sure it was there and it got infected. The second time I got it pierced with a ring, and by my experience the ring is soo much more easier to clean. But some people dont like the rings. I still have my ring in, i only change it to a stud when i have something special to go to. Oh and I wouldnt recommend changing the jewelry or taking it out for atleast 4-6 months. I didnt take mine down for 8 months and it healed perfectly.

it really depends on where you get it done, some of my friends got it done somewhere cheaper and they got infected. Ask around and see where the best place to actually go is. good luck xo

50/50 It all depends on how well you keep it clean, and how clean the equipment is that's used to do the task.
