In general terms in means the physical act of lighting a candle. I believe some organizations have formal "candle-lighting" ceremonies for certain events. Lighting a candle is also common during some wedding ceremonies.

if you are looking for a physical, material method then you can light a candle by applying fire to the wick of a candle.
otherwise you might consider the following: "it costs a candle nothing to light another candle". psychologically this would be the act of helping your fellow man, if you will, to enhance their abilities.
