I've read a few books that they think it is wrong....the big bang theory is just a theory...that happens to fit the physics and observations very nicely....
the other theories explain the backround radiation and dopler shift from other effects....no one knows for sure, and anyone who does is lieing....it's just a model like the model we have of the atom...it works so we assume it's true...
hower we are always learning, newtons laws were trumped by einstiens then quantum physics came around and trumped a few of einstines....every time we think we have it all figured out someone learns something more...that's what makes it fun.

Let's leave sky fairies and non physical beings out of this. Now to more realistic things. Science does not function in a vacuum of vagaries an superstition sprinkled with supernatural phenomena. It is a long and tedious(at times) process of formulating a theory, testing it in reality and either confirming or rejecting said theory. The point is that science is very adaptable. The existence or non existence of the Big Bang is not a sudden event or a revelation. It is a string of evolving tested and accepted or rejected logical and predictable stages. So far every scrap of evidence we can dig up and test point us in that direction. If there is a point(and this is possible) where the evidence argues against the Big Bang science will drop it and pursue the new theory that will have to emerge. This is the essence of science. Follow the facts where they take you and not the opposite. ie trying to make the facts fit our wishful thinking. 1+1=2 whether we like it or not. Regardless of what some religion might claim as the absolute truth.

Well if scientists do get absolute proof that big bang theory is completely wrong so many other theories based on that would be argued to be false. The scientists would begin another quest to give the right theory to the existence of the universe. But unless the get absolute proof it would ever be accepted.

heres what wil happen :
cosmologist will realize that in the grand scheme of things : the so called great thinkers are just a tiny dot in a bigger whole.
cosmologists and scientists are only human and just like us their senses are imperfect . we cannot fathom the greatness of the great creator brahma.
it is way way beyond the ability of the human mind to grasp.
and afte that the whole human race will go searching for the absoulte truth . please try to check the srimad bhagavatam canto 1 for further details. it ight give u some light .

Not much, they'd just pull another 'theory' out of the air.
