You've got the good metal bands, then you've got the ones that just play riffs and scream over the top of everything, which to me, is just a pretty lazy way to sound heavy.
I must say, Grindcore is one ugly music. But metalheads will take that in a good way. One thing I love most in a metal song is one good, long solo. Not just the usual chugga-chugga riffs.
