It's interesting, that's for sure.
The frontrunners for the Democratic nomination are Clinton, Obama, and Edwards. They've all got their problems, but I have no idea what will happen with that. Based on what I've heard from people, Clinton/Obama would be a popular ticket. I wouldn't mind that meself. I think they'd balance each other.
The Republicans... are not doing so well. Guiliani looks good, but he's gonna scare the Christian right like crazy (crossdressing! gay-friendly! pro-choice!). McCain's dead. Sorry, but he pushed the troop surge first, and everyone hates that idea, so he looks really bad, especially to moderates and swing voters. Gingrich hasn't announced, and he's got Christian right issues, too (how many divorces was that?), plus he's got reverse-Clinton problems. Just like many on the right will come out to vote against Clinton, many on the left will do the same for Gingrich.
I want to say the Dems will win, landslide, but the US, they are a fickle lot. Some (shortsighted) voters are already getting very antsy about pulling troops out of Iraq, and it will hurt the Dems with some voters if we aren't out by the elections. Logically, this should hurt _Republicans_, but then we never should've re-elected Bush, so... It's also never safe to underestimate Republicans. But, considering current polls, the way the Reps are kinda imploding, and how well Dems have been doing, I think it's gonna be a Dem. Which one, who knows?

The front runners are too polarizing, and we have had enough of that for the moment. I would go with Romney or Richardson. Just a guess at who will win though, not necessarily who I want. I can think of worse choices by either side.
Oh yeah, and you forgot Morman or Hispanic on that list.
