One of my life's goals is to find my father. I know there are services out there (i.e. private investigators), but I don't know if they are reliable. Has anyone used one of these services and actually found who they were looking for?

Yes they are reliable. My relative is a private investigator. It costs about $100 and they basically run the name through databases.

Few bother to register but you can contact your local Better Business Bureau and ask for a list of PI's.

Try posting ads on craigslist. If someone that knows him sees an ad, and contacts you, you win!
