I have a new flat top stove that I recently melted part of my sleeve on. I can NOT get the melted part off - nylon/polyester... I am not supposed to use anything that would scratch it. I have the special cleaner that is recommended and a rubber scraping tool - some has come off but the majority is still there. HELP!!

A product called Goo-Gone works great - pour it on and let it sit for a while then use your plastic scraper. Oh, and about regular cleaning and maintenance. I don't bother using the Cerama-brite it's far too expensive. You can buy the cream Vim or now I just use baking soda after I dampen the surface and use one of those green fibre/sponge scrubbers. I have had the same white flat top stove for 6 years now and I don't have a mark or scratch on it even though I use it daily.

I did this with Saran Wrap once on my black glass cook top. Have a very thick, slightly wet 100% cotton white terry cloth wet towel ready with some Baking Soda on it and then turn your burner on low for for just a few seconds, then off gain. When warm, the melted stuff will budge better. The white towel will show what you are getting off and making progress. You may have to repeat this several times. Once the major stuff is off and burner is totally cool again, then use your usual cleaner. Also, use a very coarse fabric with it, like burlap bag texture- a shop rag or something similar. That works better than the scrapping tool anyway. The good thing? If you are like me, you will never, ever do this again! LOL Good luck and hope this works for you.

okay...I've done this before and i had a trouble at first...then I went out and got some antibacterial solution ( the stuff they sterilise baby bottles in) and poured it onto it, left it there for a few minutes and then it wiped off... All Gone like new...I now use it to clean my stove and oven and bench tops.. But be careful not to get it on your clothes cos it will remove the dye from them...
Good luck

get the stove warm , not too hot and try scraping it off then, or try using a magic eraser from mister clean.
