I think the style originated from the hip-hop culture but I am not sure. I have seen a lot of guys lately with clothes WAY to big, and hats with stickers still on them and that kind of thing and I just don't get it. I mean the hat thing is probably just some new style, but since when is good style wearing clothes 5 sizes to big for you?

My fashion designer friend clued me in . . it's prison culture dress. Prisons were strapped for cash so instead of ordering inmate uniforms in SM, MED, LG, XLG, etc. they opted to bulk order just the Xtra LG size to save $$ and make everyone from skinny to obese wear the same size.

Why anyone would want to emulate prison culture is beyond me though and a sorry commentary on our male population. I once saw a guy strut down the street and then lose his pants- very cool, not! Thankfully he was wearing equally baggy boxers. They flattered him like a old lady's nightie!
I can hardly wait for the next fad. These guys are trained to follow ridiculous fashion like poofed up poodles at the Westminster Dog Show!!

I do not have an answer but I want to know how they hold up the pants. In fact perhaps the act of holding up the trousers is just an excuse for some (ahem) men to hold another thing or at least look like they are.
