I lived in the Philippines for 5 months when I was 12 and I remember that many foreign artists/bands were famous there, I got to watch so many awesome music videos that weren't even released in the U.S, but this was 10 years ago... I also love music from Spain and Mexico and I was also wondering if artists/bands from there are popular in the Philippines as well?

Yeap. At some areas. Im from Cebu and some Am stations do play Spanish songs. Songs from the 70's. or ealy 80's. Like Los Lobos, Gypsy Kings, Julio Iglesias. Ricky Martin at some point was a hit here. I also love Latin songs. Latin-Afro as well. My dad told me that I weird. Im only 24 but I love longs from the 70's 80' more than the new ones. In fact, my WMP is fully loaded with Spanish songs.

This genre is not popular here in the Philippines. every now and then some radio stations plays one but it is not mainstream. I personally do not know and Mexican or Spanish band/artist. Maybe when you were here it was the time of the boom of Mexican soap (Thalia-fever) but it was just a fad and it faded too fast too soon also, that was the time when Los Machiteros(?) (did i get that right?) went global and Macarena was a popular hit not only in the Philippines but all over Asia i think.

Probably. I don't live in the Philippines, but I do know that Latin culture music, soap operas, movies, etc are big in some Asian countries. I was watching a spanish tv clip about a mexican actor who is huge in the philippines because of a translated soap opera that he's on.

Yeah, I dig latino songs old and new. There was the Trio los Panchos, Trini Lopez, Harry Belafonte, Julio Iglesias, Menudo. My old favorite songs are Quesas, Quesas, Quesas, and Malaguina and La Bamba.

well, if you know Litzy from Mexico, she's the one I like and makes better music with her angelic voice. Her face can be a subject of envy too...
