My father was ww2 vet, he was a combat surgeon that I think saw a bit too much carnage, (he was on 4 invasions, first wave on one of them), It took me a long time to figure out what his problem was, my mother was the only one that could keep him under any sort of control, he was a bit off the hook with his reactions after getting angry, being a child was VERY difficult in my house, we lived close to the airport "JFK", and on more than one occasion a plane came low over the house at night, and my father would wake up screaming and dive on the floor, i could hear my mother calming him down to go back to sleep.
