I feel that rap/hip hop is a form of expression and there is good music with positive messages coming from artists like Mos Def, Common and Talib to name only a few, but unfortunately this is not what sells. Since the garbage sells so much... society gets the wrong impression that thats what hip hop is.

I am sometimes embarrassed to be known for liking hip hop amungst my peers when I see the BS thats on these music videos etc... because that is what I am being associated with. Yet I don't support it at all. Its ignorant.

So my answer is...depends on what type of rap you listen to.

Well let's see what could possibly be good about glorifying being a baby's daddy instead of a father, considering a prison sentence a badge of honor, selling drugs and street violence is considered a norm, calling someone that graduates high school, succeeds in life legitimately or speaks properly a sell out. What good can come out of that, blacks are the ones that are keeping themselves down with thinking like that. It is pure poison for an entire race.

Support the arts, shoot a rapper.

Depends what kind of rap. Personally I dont very much like the commercial rap these days. 50 Cent bothers me. However, I dont mind Ludacris or Tupac. I like Immortal Technique, and I occasionally enjoy Snoop Dogg.

As a form of expression I dont mind it at all. But these days its all the same stuff over and over and over again. It was good when it was original, and the original stuff these days is good, but rare.

Very poor. Hip-hop "culture" keeps blacks chained in a lower social status by glorifying crime, dishonor, and hatred.
