There are as many 'correct' answers as there are products and brands of those products.

Basically, if you change the fluids often you can get away with pretty much any type of lubricant that is slippery. I'd stay away from energy conserving automotive engine oil that contain friction modifiers though. They tend to impregnate the fiber plates and cause clutch slippage after prolonged use.

We've used Motul E-Tech 100 10w40 in a KX250, a KTM 300, a KTM 450, a Cannondale E440 & X400, and a Kawasaki VN1500 for years. I'm completely sold on the stuff, FWIW.

The main thing, IMHO is to use a good quality lubricant and change it often.
