Their pre frontal cortex is not as developed as an adults. That's the area for executive functioning. However, someone who is a violent or sexual offender should not be released into society to harm innocent people. Tough question. I think it would have to depend on the severity of the crime. They shouldn't be housed with adult inmates tho.

no. i don't think people should be tried as an adult until they can have all the responsibilities and benefits of an adult! 13 year old should not be tried as an adult. I don't think a 17 year old should be tried as an adult, although they may be aware of the wrong doings at that time, they are not mentally or emotionally at the place of an adult who makes the same decision and should be given another chance... what you do at 13 should not be allowed to affect you once you turn 21!

oh it is worse than that.
chris rock did a brilliant skit on it
when that 13 year old girl got 'kidnapped from her house' and was living with strangers about 3 miles away from her home, she was a little girl (who wouldnt pick up the phone and call home) but when the 13 year old boy killed the girl in florida suddenly he was a man.

I am not sure how I feel about them being tried as adults
COLUMBINE kids (if they werent such cowards) YES
Dc sniper, YES

air force cadet chick and her boyfriend YES

adolescents sometimes should be treated as adult and sometimes as child.actually this age is a critical period in everyone's life.in certain situation they take correct decision but most of the decisions taken by them is wrong.many aspects are there to discuss with this context.parents will be very much worried when their son or daughter enter this particular age.they will be very keen interested to know whatever his child is doing .
