Julie is closer to what I mean.

I followed behind my grandpa and know how to do all sorts of stuff. I have better tools in my collection than a guy I hired to do some work for me. I am hetero...I just wanted to know if there were others out there.

BTW, I got a Dual Drill! Na nana na na

I love working on my car and doing woodworking.
Second to owning a cute dog is owning a cute or hot car!
I've met guys thru car clubs and shows although they usually start off with, I can help you with that, or I'm sure you'll find a guy here who'll be happy to fix that for ya, before they get to know I'm serious and competent. Of course, I don't own all of the tools yet so they really can be a help, but on a level field and past that sexism crap.

Consider too that lots of hetero men boil water and beyond!
We don't think a man who can manage not to starve must automatically be gay

So yes, you can be a woman of either persuasion and love these hobbies or occupations and if you meet someone who isn't cool with it, they'll either evolve, deal or ditch em.
You'd be surprised how many guys don't know which end of the screwdriver to use or where to put the oil in a car anyhow!
You might be doing them fixit favors!

Really, with the divorce rate these days can you afford to be a totally helpless woman at the mercy of handymen and mechanics?

Society has come a lot farther, but not far enough. I'm definintely as straight of a female as there is and I think that any female who's breaking the stereotypical barriers is awesome! And not necessarily for some of the more feminist reasons, but because I don't think that other females will except themselves as being able to do typically "male" jobs until it is widely portrayed in real life as well as in the media. So often women in those positions are portrayed as homosexuals, which just isn't the case. More women would take on those hobby's or jobs if they weren't so worried what others would think of them. I work out in the woods and part of my job is being a sawyer. Whenever I'm around new people (men AND WOMEN) I feel as if I need to make some sort of insinuations about my boyfriend or something of the like or else people end up asking me something like "so do you have some sort of a .... ummm... well .....uhhhh...... uhhhhh................ partner, or something......). It's obvious why they're hesitant. Honestly, I sort of expected this from guys, but I never expected women to be so close minded! I do hope this changes soon.

Yah know the most rewarding moments for me are always when a new gal joins the crew, thinking that she'll never be able to start the tools and run them like the guys on the crew, and I get to teach her that she can operate all of those tools and know exactly what all of them are used for. One gal had been running the saw for almost six months and she asked me to take a picture of her while she was cutting something so that she could finally proove to her husband that SHE was running the saw. It had been six months and he still didn't believe that she was capable of cutting wood with a saw! Forget the picture..... I took a video!

We have come a long ways, but definetely not far enough!!

My sister is an electrician and you can't get more feminine than she. What I want to know is when will repairmen stop treating women like idiots. It drives me nuts. You might know more about it then a man does but they insist on giving you the runaround. I stick up for myself and still get treated badly. One time we were replacing our hot-water heater and I was there before my husband and the guy said the hot-water heater we bought was too big and he couldn't put it in. I said to him..."Is the one your taking out 50 gallons?" He said yes. Then I said..."Is this one 50 gallons?" he said yes , but he still couldn't do it. My husband got home right then and talked to the guy and isn't it funny that water heater fit. I even complained to the guy's boss and he said it was a misunderstanding, Yea right. Maybe we've come a long way, but some men sure haven't.

women can do what they like no one cares but there is no career I can do that women tend to usually do maybee nursing. Women can be strippers and they don't have to go to the gym for that as a man I would have to and I would be closer to a gorrila-gram or indeed a stripper gram and be more of a novelty act. I wanted to be an au pair in the states but agencies only hire women. If I was an atractive women I would be able to work in the sex industry. I'd love to be a Gygalow ( if I could choose my clients discreetly) but women have it all it seems.

Am i sensing a Little bit of jealousy here? Your right, woman and their career choices have come a long way... now we can you you supposed jobs better than you can. Who gives a **** if the woman is a lesbian or not? does that change the fact that she can do a job or not? Are you telling me that gays aren't interested in manly jobs? Give me a break. its people like you that stop equal rights from happening.

I love to do " manly " activities and am perfectly straight. When I was young it was just called a tomboy.

only people with very small minds would consider a female going into a career path such as mechanic or carpenter a lesbian.
