Honey, is there a reason why you DON'T want your mom to know that you've got your period? That seems strange to me, I mean, I value privacy probably more than the average person, but still, she's your mom. If she loves you, and odds are that she really does, then she not only has the right to know that you're becoming a "woman", but she'd probably take that as a reason to celebrate, a reason to get closer to you.

Now, if there's something strange going on, and you'd be in some sort of danger or threat or very uncomfortable situation by telling her that you've got your period, then you need to get help...NOW. Tell your school guidance councellor, a teacher, a cop...whoever it takes to get and keep you out of danger. Do not ever be afraid to protect yourself, or to ask for help, whatever the situation.

Barring that, if this is just a case of embarrassement, then...suck it up, and tell her already. If not her, at least an older sister, cousin, aunt, uncle-who-acts-like-an-aunt....tell SOMEONE!

I'm curious to know why you feel it should be a big secret to keep from her and why you haven't already told her. It's not a big deal, dear. Just tell her, the words you use aren't a critical thing. Try simply telling her that you have gotten your period. For starters, it would make life a lot simpler for you. Your mom can provide you with all the supplies you need, and you won't have to sneak them. There's no need for embarassment, after all she changed your diapers, and she already knows where all your freckles are located. And surprise- she knows about periods too. So quit fretting over how to do it, and just do it. Pick a time when it's just the two of you, and get it over with.

You should not be ashamed about getting your period, it's a perfectly natural part of growing up. I'm sure your mom would be quite proud of you, in fact.

Just sit down with her and tell her -- hey, at least you know what's going on and how to take care of it. There are a lot of girls that get their first period and don't know why they are bleeding. Congratulations on growing up. :)

She probably knows and is embarrassed to talk to you too! Next time you go to the store with her tell her you need some tampons and voila! The secrets out!

honey just tell her, why are you sneaking? there is no reason to sneak these things, menstruation is a perfectly normal part of growing up for females- your mom has had periods before- just say mom, I have started my periods- don't be embarrassed ((Hugs))

Tell her! She'll help & guide you.

Just tell her girl, you're better off that way.

She won't get angry or anything, because every female gets it.

Don't be embarassed, you're not the only one who has their period, alot of females have theirs too. so just speak out.

trust me, tell her, it's the right thing to do cause she's gonna find out sooner or later.

"Mom, I got my period".
then,
"Can I get some pads and tampons?"
It's something that happened to her, too, you know.
Don't sweat the small stuff, just talk to her.
Good luck.
