Why Do So Many People Dislike Or Critize Immigrants ???

I don't understand many immigrants come to the U.S just to work and make a living so they can send the money to their poor families from were ever they are from. some people say that they take jobs away, but the jobs that immigrants do, many other people wouldn't do.


I don't understand, could someone tell me the reason why this is.

I agree with Cathy, my problem with immigrants is when they don't try to conform to US standards, ie: the language. I shouldn't have to wait extra time in a hospital ER room for treatment for my husband (as has happened) because the person before us needs an interpreter....and they havent arrived yet. I shouldn't have to pass up jobs which I am qualified for because they need a bilingual person....I shouldn't have to frequent stores where the workers talk to each other in a different language and I have no idea what is being said.

I think they should stay in their own country and let their country take care of them not America. I don't dislike immigrants. I have a problem with ILLEGAL immigrants. I can only assume some of them can be nice people. I just want them to become American citizen the legal way. Apply for citizenship and do the proper paperwork instead of crossing the border. Many immigrants come over here not just Mexicans but Asians, Russians, Middle Easterners and other races too. There is so much money in teaching these immigrant the English language. That money could have been spent elsewhere like medical insurance for the poor. The way the economy is. I hope unemployed Americans will take any job to pay their bills. People are losing their jobs everyday for one reason or another. Many immigrants come over here and get pay at a lower rate under the table. Some get fake social security cards and ID. Some commit crimes, murder and other offences. They can also get welfare, food stamps and medical benefits. While many Americans are here all our lives and we can get these benefits. Our tax dollars go into the welfare system but when we need it. We get denied. There are many Americans who are working minimum wages jobs but don't have medical insurance. They are just trying to make ends meet. It doesn't make sense to me.

I don't really mind immigrants at all, they help the economy by participating in the work force, and a lot of them are wonderful people. My problem is when they speak a different language for 50 years of living here because they never really had to learn English. I think part of the immigration process should be mandatory English lessons for the first 3 months of living here, 8-5, 5 days a week. I like that we have multiple cultures, and that we have multiple languages, but we do need to share at least one language so that when I am trying to buy something, or pay for pizza or whatever, it doesn't take me a half hour just to understand what people are saying.

Only the stupid people who don't like competition hate immigrants. I'm all for it. If you're smart, hardworking, you can get a job anywhere in the U.S of A.

Blacks always say that they are being mistreated and can't get a job because of their color, you don't see Asians or Mexicans complaining about being mistreated. Of course people are a bit racist, who is not? It is part of the human condition. However, once they get to know you and see you for the person you are, things begin to change. Blacks had 400 and somewhat years to do this, and still they are being treated as they are. Maybe it's not a black thing but a characters and work ethic thing?

Maybe it's because of something call work ethics..?

Upon legally immigrating to this country, many are given money and tax-free status and welfare and a lot of other things that Americans who have worked and paid taxes etc have to pay for but can't get. Many of us are told by immigrants on a daily basis how much they love their country of origin and how great it was. We are forced to press 1 for English because these people don't want to learn it, and we have to spend money from the schools' budgets to teach their kids English, money that we pay so our kids can learn. I don't mind immigration, but some days, it would be nice to just let loose on one of them and tell them to shut up about how great Somalia was or how much better it was wherever they came from. If they liked it, they should stay there, if the want to come here to work and live, they should become Americans, they should pay taxes and speak English. (Sorry, I usually hold any feelings of animosity I may have inside.)

I think they are insecure that these immigrants will take away their jobs and that more and more of them will occupied their land/ country. Also, they are worried that the immigrants holding higher jobs will pass their skills and knowledge back home when they decide to return to their hometown.

However, they fail to realize that there are a lot of jobs like sanitization, dish washers, road sweepers, kitchen helpers, construction workers are consider 'low-class' to its own citizens. But these are the jobs that the immigrants don't mind doing. In Singapore, we have a lot of lot of foreign workers working in these sectors and it's all thanks to them that make our country a nicer and cleaner place to live in. I think these people who criticize or dislike immigrants are sour-grapes and insecure people. Please do not be bothered by what others say as long as you make a decent living,

That depends on which immigrants you are talking about. A comedian said it really comes down the language, We do not have a problem with people from Canada or England coming here cause they speak English and we like there accents. It is the people from Mexico and Iran and Iraq that do not speak English or have a 'funny' accent that some do not like.

We live in a civilization speckled with psycotics. They are sadistic and have to have a target to kick around. If it wasn't immigrants it would be another target. They are ANTI ANTI ANTI members of the population who feel better having a target to abuse. They float around a "hate" center . They cannot lend a hand in creation so they lend a hand in destruction. They are known as "toxic" and it is best to keep a distance from them. They are also known for injustice. They are on both sides of the fence, because some come here from other countries and live here but hate Americans. They are just toxic people.

That's one reason right there. They send that money right back to another county. Some people are bothered by that.

You are right that many people would not want to do those jobs but most people have issues with ILLEGAL immigrants, not people that immigrate legally.

WELL THOSE WHO THINK THEY ARE ABOVE ALL OTHERS DO NOT DISCRIMINATE THEY TREAT ALL US POOR PEOPLE EVEN THOSE OF US WHO WERE BORN AND RAISED IN THE U.S. ITS ONE OF THE THINGS THEY PUT BLINDERS ON TO AVOID LOOKING IN TO THE EYES OF THE PEOPLE THEY ARE DEGRADING.
