With your size and awarness, if you feel you must play somewhere without your coach placing you...
try Defensive Tackle or Nose Guard.

You'll still have the ability to pull down a quarterback - and from there you'll be able to develop into another position if your body type and ability allow for that.

Linebacker is truly an "experience" position: I played 5 years of college football at linebacker...but I started at noseguard in High school.

My senior year in High School ...at 17...I played linebacker for the first time...over 6 feet and I weighed only 200 pounds.
Just to give you an idea of size...
I ran the 40 in 5 flat and bench pressed 300 pounds.

Good luck - you should be working out and running alot right now.

Ok from how you describe yourself im not sure linebacker is where you want to go... A linebacker doesn't only sack the quarterback... Playing linebackeer you need the perfect balance of speed, power, intelligence, and awareness... The linebacker position is the hardest to play in football because it requires you to interpret what the offense does...

I would suggest that with your limited knowledge of organized football you should play defensive end... which means that you would line up on the outside shoulder of the Offensive Tackle and at the snap of the ball you rush for the quarterback or the running back... You have the weight to play the position and if you're actually fast that gives you an advantage.

If you are serious about playing football i suggest you make sure you weigh a healthy 230lbs and to watch some film on your position so you know what exactly you should do... ask your local high school coach and ask for old game footage so you can practice your technique

You can become a football player but imagine all of the boys that want to become pro! The odds of someone actually going pro in a sport is very small because so many people want to do it. Go for it, but always have a bgood backup plan just incase it doesn't work out. You'll be more prepared than all the other boys.

OK man let me tell u something OK i been playing football for 7 years OK i think if u go out go for a defense tackle like me I'm 5'11 225 and I'm fast u are 230 and u say u fast so that's what u need to play also if u play on defense u don't have to know the plays cause that's what i do and one more thing before practice don't eat sweets drinks nothing with grease or nothing cause u will throw it up just bring a water bottle and eat like a banana for lunch cause u will feel like u can run better and stuff like that OK good luck i might play u one day lol

Well not playing football organized is a shock, though you will enjoy it once you get going. Talk to your friends that play ask them what they like. Next go in and talk to your coach, He or She can give you an idea of what to look at or check out. You never know you could be a receiver or maybe work to be a Quarterback. Right now its up to you and what you are willing to learn. But remember one thing, GO OUT AND HAVE FUN, if you are not having fun playing, find a sport that you would enjoy better. There are a lot of things you have to look at so enjoy.

Why don't you just join a team, idiot, like kids did before they had computers to ask strangers questions of what to do?
