360
Its way cheaper and has an amazing libary of games. Screw the PS3 its only gonna have 3-4 good games in general. I know that MGS 4 is gonna be amazing but is one game really worth 600 dollars? I know Im bias. What games are you looking foward to? If you are a MGS4 fan get PS3 if you are a Halo fan go for the xbox 360 (Gears of War, Deadrising, ect.)

PS3 All The Way. The Blu-Ray Disks Are Amazing. As Soon As Companies Can Figure How To Use The Full Potential Of The Blu-Ray 360 Won't Have A Chance. Also The Addition You Buy For The 360 To Play HD-DVD Doesn't Play As Nicely As The PS3 Plays Blu-Ray. You Also Have To Pay, (Not Alot Buy You Still Pay), For XBox Live. The PS3 Is Free. Also If You Buy A PS3 Get The $600 One And Not The $500. Trust Me PS3 Will Be Alot Better Choice In The End.

Price-wise: the 360 would be the obvious choice.
Game-wise: the 360 would still be the obvious choice. Considering that the PS3 was just released so you would expect a small library and the only game I can choose from that is Resistance: Fall of Man. Whereas the 360 already has a number of great games.
Also the 360 has X-box Live which is very dependable already but that does not mean that Sony's online services are bad though.
All in all I would choose the 360 instead of the PS3. But we can obviously expect Sony to improve their system. ( If you have the money, why not buy both ;)!!! )

Depends on what type of games you enjoy playing. I will tell you right now that I am avid PS gamer, and have been since its first incarnation. That said, I will tell you that the PS3 will be your best bet, because the Playstation systems simply have the best games on the market. It's particularly great for RPG (like Final Fantasy, Suikoden, etc.) and other games with real substance to them. Metal Gear, God of War, Tekken, etc. The XBox is still just a bloated, paper-weight like eye-candy machine. Halo is a great game and if you love Halo a lot, then the 360 is worth it. However, with a PS3, all previous PS1 and PS2 games will be backwards compatible (that is to say that you can play them all on a PS3 without having to load up your HD like the XBox 360).
The 360 never impressed me with it's games, as pretty as they are. Even the PS3 initial game launches weren't anything to write home about. However, the Playstation consistently churns out more top sellers and Greatest Hits titles than any other console, making your game selection of choice that much easier. As the year continues and developers begin to tap into the real power of the PS3, you will see very strong titles start to appear and it will eventually overshadow the 360, as did the PS2 with the original XBox. More quality titles with more solid gameplay and high replay value make the PS3 and its predecessors an obvious choice for me. I only own the XBox to play Halo and a few other titles worth keeping around, but that's about it.
So while I am obviously not a big fan of the XBox, it's not to say that it's a bad system. Just depends on your gaming tastes and the kind of experience you wish to have.
