I'd have to say the New York Yankees. They have been consistently throughout the years dominant (and even when not dominant, always competitive) in their sport. The Celtics, Packers, Cowboys, and Red Wings all had periods where they won championships. The Yankees won 26 World Championships from 1921 to 2007 and in that 86 year period appeared in the World Series 39 times. That's almost a World Series appearance every other year for close to century. And that was pretty much the case with the exception of a 12 year drought from 1964 to 1976 and a 15 year drought from 1981 to 1996. That's just about as "great" as it gets.

As much of a Laker, Packer, and Braves fan... i would have to say the New York Yankees... People only mention the fact that they won 26 World Series Titles...but thats not it... its one of the oldest franchises...
Baseball was the first American Sport introduced, the yankees started in New York and has remained there til this day. the only major change was adding pinstripes to the uniform
Baseball's greatest players were yankees, Babe Ruth, Joe Dimaggio, Micky Mantle, and Lou Gehrig and the list goes on... But it doesn't end there the Yankees are the richest franchise in sports they have enough money to buy the Red Wings, Lakers, Celtics, and the Packers... thats why the Yankees are the greatest franchise

That depends. What terms are you looking at? Many say that the NY Yankees, winning 26 world series titles. Some argue that the Lakers or the Celtics are the greatest. Still others mention the Green Bay Packers or the Montreal Canadiens, Detroit RedWings... So it depends. Those are some pretty storied franchises, so that's a start I guess..

The best franchise overall is the Yankees. They won so many times,26,and have lost very few.If your talking football it would be the Packers because they have won 12 champinoships. In hockey it would be the Canadiaens or Red Wings. In basketball the Bulls.

MLB: New York Yankees (26x champs)
NHL: Montreal Canadiens (over 15 Stanley Cups)
NBA: Los Angeles Lakers
NFL: San Francisco 49ers...only because they have 5 Super Bowls and have never lost in the Super Bowl..can't say the same about Pittsburgh or Dallas.
