Not only over the moon, but howling with happiness!
Did you catch the backstage moment when Marty hugged Jack Nicholson, mouthing "I got it!..I got it!", with that kind of shocked but angelic expression?
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy, couldn't happen to a worthier film champion!

I am exceedingly happy for him although I do believe that this was not the best work he has done. I think that Goodfellas or Gangs of New York were much more superior, but I do believe the Academy just felt that they needed to give it to him since he has gotten brushed off all these years. However just because it wasn't his best work, we ARE talking about Scorsese here, and it's rather difficult for him to top himself, you know what I mean? Well done Marty! I am over the moon for you! Long time coming!

I thought that having Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg presenting the Oscar was just too much of a dead give away. But, kudos to Martin Scorsese, he genuinely deserved it! My personal favorite would have been for Good Fellas.

Well, Over the moon is a bit too much but yes, he deserved one. Sort of through tenure and seniority and previous grand total work done.

The Oscars this year was quite different from the previous years. What happened?

I was glad for him, because he is a great director. Some people say that The Departed wasn't good I saw it when it came out and told my family that they should watch it, because it was the best movie that I had seen in a long time. I also liked that the other directors gave him the Oscar, that was great.

i am actually shocked i was starting to think that one of bylaws for being a member of the academy was you couldnt vote for one of his movies. while it was not his best work i think they were apologizing for giving him the snub for so long. he has earned it. he is one of only two guys who has never made a bad movie, the other being terentino. just my opinion.
