The ability to think and use our brain accordingly. And not forgetting, our 'guts' feelings'.
The ability to feel and react to emotion and most important of all, the ability to differentiate between right and wrong...good and evil.

'our' Feelings is out of the question- emotions amongst animals in as confirmed as possible.

However, humans are incredibly different from the other creatures. We have opposable thumbs, a key part to one of our other most important traits- intelligent use of tools. Although monkeys and primeates do have this as well, it is certainly limited.

Humans also have a more intelligent brain than any other creature. We are so intelligent that we easily learn new things, whether it be natural, physical, mental. We are so intelligent that beyond all that learning, we are able to think to ourselves and critisize others.

We are the only animals (besides scientifically proposed dolphins) who have sex for pleassure alone :)

There are many other vital parts to our difference to other creatures, too many to list here:). Think of what's obvious!

Also to utilize my very own critizing:
Animals do communicate. What do you think a meow or bark is? Also, animals even have a developed communication "without words" like sniffing and fighting.

The single most factor that makes us different than animals is that we have the attribute of reason. That ability works against us nearly as much as it works in our favor because we do not always reason correctly. While the power of reason is our greatest gift it is also what gives us the most suffering.
Try to understand, for example, how our judgement of others, like if we call someone a jerk or call them evil, only makes ourself feel worse, it doesn,t have any effect on the person of whom we've passed judgement. Mankind does many things that cause misery for our self. Have you seen any animals do that?

Our ability to think, reason, create & feel. Though other creatures do appear to do most of these in some capacity...I love animals. I think they are very much like us. Except that they act on instinct & we use judgment (or at least we should!) to make decisions...

I would read Aristotle's DE Anima , though its of the highest form of intellect ,and very difficult without having any serious philosophical background .

It metaphysically shows the cause and effect of movement of species through the analogy of substance ( ouisa soul , anima) .The different and same senses of animals man and plants . Soul as being one.
Christ would teach through parables we are man not animals thus mankind . ( kind to all creatures under his domain )

Body structure, our abilities, our features. What makes us different from an animal and a human is that humans can talk animals dont. Just the obvious things really.

it's emotional to affirm that human is better
freedom from want is what make animal different
pleasure is unique in human, animals feel nothing because a child feels nothing too (when I'm 1, I don't care about anything [mother, father, money, myplace in the family, my good quality])
Human is conscious of the bad and good order of things
They seek assurances, They don't like vagueness, they want to be sure about what is the value of themself, they deny the truth
Human has habits, they preserve it even they know there's a better thing to do
Human don't want to loose the feeling of self (goodness)
self is good

We learn, on a great level of consciousness.
We become aware of more than our instincts and try to better those.

We learn morals and understand these as thoughts and actions.
sure our physical body is different to most animals. but i feel its our level of consciousness that makes us different.
