Nail Gun Nails!!! not nail guns. i can get much much higher quality traditional nails compared nail gun nails at a fraction of the price. So, basically, when you say because "they know we'll pay" Us builders, framers are idiots and we are knowingly ripping off our customers by purchasing items that are known to be ripping in net profits of more then 10%. I charge my customer 10% over cost. How many manufacturers can say they only charge the customers10% over the cost of labor and materials to manufacture alone.

They are about half price than when they came out roughly over 20 years ago. the gas powered ones are the Big buck ones.
It is simple, you save a ton of money paying someone to nail sheating by hand when you can do it in no time with the gun.
they pay for themselves in no time. and are a great investment if you use them a lot. IE: you can nail an apartment roof/sheathing in like a half a day 1 man. by hand it would take at least a day.

Plain old nails are dumped in a 40 lb box, all mixed up, boxed ever how they fall.

Nail gun nails go thru several more operations, and some of the machines they use are quite expensive, and the up keep on the extra machines cost quite a lot.

It is thought the builder saves enough time using a gun, to more that off set the higher price.

Nail guns have a lot of tiny parts inside. It's a tool and big tools are always expensive. What is more expensive is paying the medical bills and comp for an employee when another goofball employee shots him in the eye with it.

It's simple really, they can get it, so they do. their costs have little to do with it. I imagine though a lot of the price is in shipping. heavy things like that probably cost a lot to ship. With most things these days, they probably come from overseas some ******ing where.
