Don't you think the Academy Awards are a JOKE!!!?
OK another night of Hollywood self gratification (or the Academy Award Show) Well first of all Al Gore wins! The first thing all the Hollywood types say is it is NOT political. Of course it is political! Al is Hollywood's golden boy. They will do anything to get him into the spot light.
Second Martin Scorsese wins. Give me a break!! It is a sympathy Oscar. He lost 5 times before and now they feel they have to give it to him. The Departed although a good film was not a GREAT film. Scorsese should have won years ago with films like TAXI DRIVER or Ragging Bull. DeCaprio is right in saying that Scorsese not winning is a JOKE.
So they all sit around patting each other on the back.
Then they all talk about the environment. What a JOKE!! A few stars show up in electric cars for show. The rest come in gas guzzling limos and have the nerve to preach to the public about conservation.
What do you think about this carade?

They ask us to donate to charities, but cry because their $100,000 prize packages are reduced to $70,000 for tax purposes. Talk about hypocrites!! Why don't they all take those prize packages and donate the to charity. Wow if every celebrity donated their prize package to charity. Wow that would be in the millions of dollars.
Put your money where your mouth is. AND PLEASE!!!! don't tell us how hard you work!! That is a joke and you know it. I have done acting before. If I could be a star I would cause its a hell of a lot easier than blue collar factory job.
I would like your comments. And please NO ONE PRETENDING TO BE A STAR!! Those self absorbed types don't read yahoo answers.

I agree with you bro. Who gives a phuck about movie stars, professional athletes, rock stars. These people are so phucked in the head that they have to give out awards for every known niche of society. Like my 7 year old's soccer league--everybody wins.*with a plastered smile on their face*

People who read People ragazine or watch E! channel need to get a life. They will never be anything and the freaks that they idolize are lucky enough to be in Hollywood. It wouldn't take nothing to act, as we can plainly see by every 2-bit chump making a movie for teenagers.

Speaking of "idol"izing, who is this chick? Doesn't anyone realize Oprah BOUGHT that Oscar for the reject idol singer. She will be on Oprah tomorrow.

Hollywood, celebraties, athletes do not realize how lucky they are. Do they give back? doubt it. Do they ever realize what is going on in the real world? Not a chance. They don't impress me at all. If I saw one on the street, which I probably wouldn't recognize anyway, I could give two sh*its about them.

George Clooney auctioned his prize package for charity one year. It would be much cooler if more celebs did that. And Al Gore was there as part of An Inconvenient Truth, not as a political figure.

But could you imagine? Carpooling to the Oscars? Then they'd start televising that, too!

Celebrities set a poor example, but at least they are bringing attention to a worthy cause.

Yeah, they are a joke. Why not have (well publicized) awards for the real people in the world who make a difference? Let teachers and police officers or whoever get fabulous prizes and high regard for doing work that makes a difference.
