Some jerk of a girl said that I am both arrogant and have low self confidence. I really do not care, but I think it is ironic that anyone could both of these traits. Feel free to share your thoughts.

The problem is that I do not feel inadequate at all and no one else thinks that I am arrogant nor have low self-confidence, just her. I am going out with one of her best friends and she has extremely bitter feelings towards me

Do you really want to be psychoanalyzed???? Based solely on the information provided...I’d say you do care, otherwise you would not be asking this question. This is also demonstrated in your use of the word "really" (I really don't care). Carefree individuals rarely stress the obvious.
Secondly, arrogance does not directly correlate with self-confidence; it actually masks a lower self-image. Everyone feels inadequate at some point, so your claim that you (do not feel inadequate at all) implies that you are defending yourself against such feelings. You further veneer yourself by recruiting the testaments of others (no one else thinks that I am...) to reinforce your self-convictions. Truly confident people, stand alone.
Lastly, individuals seldom have such "extreme" emotions for people they care so little about. At face value, I would infer your comment (she has extremely bitter feelings towards me) was more likely the product of projection that any true opinion the girl has for you. Perhaps you feel bitter towards her, or at yourself...or at her for shinning light on a denied part of yourself.
I don’t know you; I don’t know her. Everyone struggles with confidence issues, but it does not justify calling someone a jerk. Be the better person, rise above her...and don’t take this personal; it was purely an analytical observation.

Like everyone else has said so far, arrogance and low self-esteem go hand in hand; arrogance is the reason most people have low self confidence. Arrogance is a cover-up for the way a person is feeling deep down. I don't think that a person with high self-esteem would go around being arrogant because that would be disrespectful. People have problems in their life that they're not ready to face so they hide it when they see someone in the same situation they tend to make fun of it or act like it's not something they're going through. People can be both arrogant and have low self-esteem.

First and foremost that is only her perception of you. Why she has that perception is the real question. It sounds like she is in at tact mode so she must see you as a threat....why? Arrogance is in most cases a cover for low self esteem. The fact that you asked the question would say to me that you are not arrogant, arrogant people have all the answers. I think you must require you girlfriend to make a decision your not dating her friend so put her out of the picture...Wish you happiness.

Maybe you could be arrogant in order to build yourself up and make yourself feel better but generally I don't you will find people who are both arrogant and have low self confidence. I think your gf's friend is just jealous that your gf is spending more time with you then she is with her. That tends to happens when a best friend gets a gf or bf and spends less time with other friends.

Low self confidence could cause someone to be arrogant to cover up the fact that they have low self confidence.

possible. Arrogance is a manner of action. You can say "hey" both in an arrogant and kind-mannered way. Self-confidence on the other hand is a character trait. You can be self-confident and still say "hey" in a kind-mannered way.

Yes, usually an arrogant person uses this attitude as a defense mechanism to disguise a low self-esteem

Sure...maybe you have low self confidence, you feel the need to make up for that, so you come across as an arrogant jackass...I've seen it before..of course your type is probably pseudo arrogance.

Arrogance is a classic sign of low self-esteem.
To compensate for the feelings of worthlessness, we often put out a false front of over-confidence.
Those that appear to have the most to prove usually have the most to hide.
In your question, you referred to the girl as a "jerk".
You went on to say that you don't care what she said; but I think that you do.
Don't worry, your situation is not unique. It is nothing to be ashamed of as it is quite common.
In fact the girl probably only called you on a trait that she sees in herself. (It takes one to know one).
She was just messing with your head.--And it got you to thinking.
