and if you did, would you give it back to them, or buy them a new one?
a neighbor once borrowed my plunger. i though that was so gross because there is fecal matter involved there.. and i did not want her returning something that once touched her fecal matter

my fecal matter is gross... so why would someone want that in their house... hers is just as gross as mine, which is why i wouldnt want it in my house... if i needed a plunger, id go buy one.. borrowing a plunger is like borrowing a used tampon... just a different orifice

I wouldn't borrow someone else's plunger unless it was an absolute emergency. Though I can't think of any emergency that is that urgent. If your toilet has flooded you might as well take a little extra time to run to the store to buy your own plunger. But if my neighbor borrowed my plunger I wouldn't freak out about it. It's a plunger - it's going to touch fecal matter whether it's yours or someone elses. If she returned the plunger with actual visible fecal matter on it, then she's pretty gross. If she at least washed it off, what's the big deal? Plungers are pretty inexpensive. Why can't people buy their own?

First of all, if i were the idiot that loaned it, there isn't much more to expect than a used plunger with somebody's elses fecal matter. I mean, just think about it. What else do you use a plunger for? If you don't want someone else to use it, then don't let them.
To answer your question, I (me, the person who gave it to that other person) would buy a new one and let the other person just keep it. Why do you want a used plunger? And plungers are useless and cheap.
Be happy with what you have that isn't covered in someone else's fecal matter.
Good Luck.

Dude, that's a real hang up. I mean, what if someone plugged up your toilet and used the plunger and you were none the wiser? Their fecal matter would be on it too. What's the diff if it's just used on another toilet? It's not like you use it for anything else!
Of course I'd return it. It's far more likely they'd need it if I kept it anyway. It's rude not to return it.
But I'm with you on the gross factor--I keep a separate plunger just for sinks and tubs.

well it's not like borrowing someone's toothbrush
and as far as just a different orifice it isn't going inside you, but only back into the toilet
other people poop in your toilet don't they, and you still use it after they are done or do you tell them the have to go to the nearest
7-11 to take care of their business? just another view point
if someone asked me to borrow mine I'd let them but also ask them to wash it off before they brought it back

No I would never borrow that item because I have 2 of my own, and I keep clean ones in each bathroom...
All I do after using them is to rinse them off in a sink or tub...
And then use disinfectant to clean up the sink or tub...
No problem...

Seems your hung up on sharing others germs. There are head doctors for that. However, I am sure you perhaps could accept if they cleaned it with bleach before they returned it would be acceptable?

No, I wouldn't borrow someone else's plunger.
