I know there are adapters to put a laptop cd drive in a desktop, but what about the other way around? Is there an adapter that will let me hook a desktop Cd player to a laptop? Basically, I need to install windows on my laptop which has allready been formatted and has no OS., and my cd drive is not working for some reason. Unless there is another way I can do it, like can I boot from a USB drive? OR.....is there a way to hook a laptop hard drive up to a desktop PC, so I can install windows on it that way??

There are drive enclosures you could get. Hooks up via USB.

You can boot from a USB drive if the bios of your system can be set up to allow it.

what you are looking for is a external CD/DVD drive for laptops. This is the easiest way to complete this.
